changing up the menu

I figured out a theme of "our favorit things" and am thinking of changing the menu to have a Pan- Asian Inspired Garden Party.
The food would be Thai and Vietnamese like these noodle soups and pad thai and salad rolls..... and of course some other veggie and chicken dishes.

Ideas

Here are some little design things I found that I like:

  • I think this is a cool idea, I might make some of these for the ceremony to go on the chairs.

  • I also like these wire card holders for the tables.

  • These thank you postcards are cute!

  • I'm defintely doing these programs with the soft fabric on the outside.

Travel arrangements

So Kelli is flying in on Wed., have any of you thought about when you want to fly in?
I am working on the room reservations for thurs. night if any of you flyin that night.
Fri night we will all stay in Tillamook at Whitney's house
Sat. night you all will stay there without me :)
Then Sun. night hotel room. (I think I can get a family/friend discount at the Hilton which would make it extra cheap) so no worries for now.

My suggestion is that you all fly in on thurs. evening or friday morning and fly out sunday or monday.
We are leaving for Mexico sunday so whoever books their flight for sunday can leave with us from the airport that day.

Favors

I need ideas for favors, I have thought of everything but I don't want something overdone and I want something that is unique to me!

What do I like guys?

I thought of tulip bulbs cause they are my favorite flower but guys don't want that, I thought if cookies or chocolates.....

Flowers.....

So for those of you who don't know I am doing my own flowers.

Yes its a lot of work but I have been researching and learning and planning so it should be cool :) I'm growing the greenery for the centerpieces and bouquets and I will grow some of the flowers (white lillies) I will supplement the flowers by purchasing some from the wholesale florist (got the hook up) but overall the flowers will be mostly white, alot of greenery and some accents of the dark purple. I also made contact with an event planning company who said I can come in anytime and use their studio to practice, so by the time June rolls around I should be a wizz at floral design. BELOW are some samples of ideas that I am going to play around with to give you a visual....

Here is what the flowers entail:

I went to a Nursery (after pouring over a garden encyclopedia and florist design books from top florists in the world and I found the flowers and colors that I like) Here is the breakdown of flowers....

  • Bride : Don't know what my bouquest will look like yet but there will be two (one for giving to the oldest married women present at the reception and the other for throwing)

  • Ladies: You will each have a nosegay bouquet the color will be green (see picture below) The best part about this is you will all learn and MAKE your own bouquet on friday. Im getting the flowers wholesale from the florist so I will give you all a quick tutorial of how to make your own bouquet, its actually really easy, check out youtube if you like for some quick demos. I will provide the ribbon, pins, EVERYTHING, it will be our fun little project.

  • Gents: They will all have crosages which I am going to make as well. These are prolly the easiet part.

  • I haven't decided on what to do for the ceremony, I don't really want alot of flowers for that, so I am thinking alot of rose petals for the ground and maybe small bouquets at the beginning and end of each eisle.

(Centerpiece ideas)

Bridesmaids (but all green, with some dark greenery.leaves and prolly babies breath around the edges)

Invitations in the making....

So here is the beginning of the invitations, please read the wording and see if it makes sense or if you have any corrections:
I decided to handmake the invites with linen feeling cardstock. I wanted them to be personal and fancy but yet still simple. They are each a different color as well, so I will pic and chose who gets what color. They each have an embossed stamp on the front that says "love" and the reply card has an embossed flower. All this embossing is lots of work!!! The bottom of the inside has grass embossed on it as well...
Right now I am working on the inside part and trying to figure out which of these two styles I will do:

  • The words on natural paper with a picture of us on vellum over the top. The picture would be b & w and see through. So when you open the invite you see a pic and you would lift it up to read the part underneath or leave it down, either way....

  • The words on vellum and a full color picture underneath. I ike the first idea better but I will play around with it and see.

So you can't really read the words on the inside but here is what it says:

He proposed to her on
bended knee, He asked "Will you travel through life with me?" Sprina said "Yes!"

I FOUND it!!!!!

http://www.aswankaffair.com/
go to photo album then masciarotte...

Whitney's House (Wedding/ reception venue)

Here are some pictures of Whitney's house.....<strong>First,this is part of the front yard by the front door, this is the first choice for the ceremony, the "alter" would be up by the front door, you cant see that, sorry I didnt take good pictures of this section. What you see is the two sides of the stairs where the guests would actually be seated. Basically we would walk up the stairs and be up above the guests. This is contingent on being able to cut the bushes low so that people could see from their seats over them, OR getting a small raised platform.

Second: the back yard, not sure what we may use this part for or even if we will use it at all, possibly it may be for the actual ceremony with us standing up near the dining room windows on that small covered patio.......

Third: the front portion of the yard where the reception will be (all three pictures)....

Argh! cont.

check out growersgardenevents.com go to feature and look at chic lounge I really like the look of that. Any ideas on how to recreate that on a budget???

Argh!

Ok so I am trying to find the type of covering that I want for the reception. I have this idea in my head and I can't find something quite like it but I have found some similiar things. So here is the idea, hopefully you guys can understand my vision and help me to recreate it:

  • I would like to have an indian/bohemian type covering, that is not really a full tent just some chiffon and tulle fabric drapped and criss-crossed over polls (wooden or metal polls). Here are a few pics I found that were similar.

  • But basically I want white drapping fabric. The part that would hang down on the sides could be tied back by ribbon (green and purple) and a mixutre of tables and sofas depending on if I can find sofas to rent for a reasonable price). If not then just tables and chairs.

The only set backs could be intense wind and rain. Which I don't think happens on June 13 from what I could tell from last years weather but I haven't found a weather archive site yet.
Can you guys help me look up what the wether was for the past 2 years on June 13th in Tillamook, (or that what is it 2nd sat.) I want to know if it is liekly to rain that day.

Headpiece

What do you think of this headpiece?
Im going for the Classy diva look, nothing traditional nothing basic, but still simple.
How about adding some pearls and crystal in so it can bling? Maybe even a little tulle but no long traditional veil.

My Dress!!!

Here is my dress! Classy and refined, elegant yet a little flirtatious.
Whatdya think???

I doubt that Jesse will come on here so Im not worried about him seeing it and if he does oh well cause he bought it LOL!!!

Details, Details, Details.....

First things first here are the basic wedding details:
  • Colors: Lapis/ eggplant/plum (purple, hell they all look the same) AND Apple green (light green, arum lily green (i threw that last one in there)

  • Who's it and what's it: Saturday June 13th, 2009 2pm ceremony starts, 3pm reception starts (cocktail hr in between so we can do our Diva thang and pose for the pics) Tillamook, OR at Whitty's House (pics to come)

  • About 120 guests and the wedding party rollin deep at 14 people, LOL. whatever Tiana :)

Man... It's almost the holdays and time to start planning :)

Hello Everyone!

With the coming of the holidays 2009 is around the corner! So I decided to set up this blogspot so I can share with you my ideas for the wedding so you can start to get a picture and an idea of what the vision is as well as to help us stay on the same page and coordinate ideas...

Basically Jesse and I started out with a goal to not put anything on credit for this wedding and we plan on sticking with that. We want to start our life out on a good path to financial freedom and no worries :) So with lots of creativity (my specialty, hehehehe) a little bit of help from you all and A LOT of research on my part I think Jesse and I will be able to share our day with the people we care about most in a beautiful and budget friendly atmosphere.

With that said please make a point to visit the blog weekly as I plan to put pictures, ideas, updates and share stories with you. I wish you were all here to do things with me but I think this will be the next best thing :) Love yah!!
